The FC Edmonds Quiet Riot are a District 1 Premier Level Team that will be playing U14 in 2011. We are back-to-back Washington State Champions, winning the Presidents Cup as the #1 rec team in the state at GU-11 (SK Angels), 2010 we won the Commissioners Cup at GU-12 and in 2011 we were Semi-finalists in the WYS Challenge Cup(Premier-Division 1)--losing to the eventual state champion VUSA Timbers. Quiet Riot was started at U7 with Sno-King, founded by JoAnne and Alvin"BigDaddy" Little. To this day, we still have 3 girls from that original "Blue Angels" team.
Coach Alvin is the Head Coach and Administrator for the team. He is a member of the NSCAA, a WSYSA licensed coach and a state certified referee. Coach Alvin plans all training and practices, manages team activities and is also Chairman of FC Edmonds. He gets on the pitch with his girls and has the philosophy of paying attention to details. "The game is perfect, so try to practice perfect" is a common statement at workouts. In 8 years of coaching these girls, he has missed one game and two practices...
The experts with the x's and o's are Coach John "Maddog" Lowdon and Coach Ron "Poppa" Johnson. Coach John has many years playing soccer and rugby at the Premier level (including a Washington State Championship). "Soccer Fanatic" would be an entirely appropriate term when describing Coach Maddog. He is passionate about the game, and even more passionate about the girls. Maddog is the "Game" coach, with his expertise in being able to see tendencies and make on-the-fly changes in tactics, and gameplay. Maddog is also a member of NSCAA.
Coach Ron has overseas soccer experience at the international level, along with playing defense for the Univ of Washington. "Poppa" is a defensive specialist, who still plays at a high level and has a hands-on approach in training our specialty position players. Poppa Ron emphasizes the mental approach to the game, making the girls focus on positioning and decision-making. He is calm and gentle in his teaching, yet brings an internal fire that everyone on the pitch can feel and learn from.
Coach Deidre Ducheane is an accomplished Varsity/AAU basketball coach who takes charge of our strength and conditioning. She's an owner of Local's Gym in Alderwood where the girls have some of their training. Coach Ducheane is the catalyst that makes our girls tough and physical on the pitch. We typically will engage in a comprehensive 8-week training cycle right before tournament play. Coach D alone probably accounts for much of our success as a team. Our girls are in fantastic condition and are also very strong. We will condition year-round starting in the 2011 season.
Many of our girls, are multi-sport athletes. Though we want our team to compete at the highest levels, we also want our girls to be able to test other sports and activities so that they can be well-rounded young women. With that being said, we do play a challenging schedule and offer year-round soccer to those girls who want to play in the off-season. Girls who have other sporting conflicts, usually prioritize their off-season sport in the winter-spring...however, many still seem to show up for soccer events=)! We do NOT have paid coaches, so our costs are a fraction of what you may pay at another club, yet we offer the highest quality training available.
If you have a girl that plays in our age bracket (G97) and has the skill, desire and conditioning to play at the Premier level, you can email Coach Alvin or Coach John to find out whether or not we have space on our team. Coach Alvin-(alvin.little@seattle.gov) or Coach John-(john.lowdon@ecolab.com). We would love to have your daughter come workout with us to see if she likes our program. Take care and thanks for reading about us...
