"FC Edmonds Boys 97 Soccer Players Begin their High School Careers"
The BU15 FCE Cobras and FCE Venom soccer teams both completed very successful seasons during the 2012 / 2013 soccer year. Summer tournaments, Training sessions, Fall league play, Showcases and State tournament play - it was an exciting year for the players on both teams. The BU15 year is also the year that most players have started their first year of high school as Freshmen. For the Cobras and Venom players, this provides the opportunity to participate in high school activities and athletics. Several of the Cobras and Venom players have already participated in Fall sports last year (Football and Cross Country), and in Winter sports as well. (Basketball and Wrestling) However, with Spring now in the air the Coaches, Parents and Players are all excited to get the 2013 High School Boys Soccer Season underway, and see how the Cobras and Venom players fair in the tryout process for their respective schools. The FCE Cobras and FCE Venom soccer teams are very Proud to Recognize the following athletes for making their 2013 High School Soccer Teams, and starting their high school sports careers. For the players listed above, Congratulations on your accomplishment. It will be a lot of fun for your parents and coaches to watch you play over the next 3 months, and compete against each other as well. For the players that did not make their high school teams, remember that your high school coaches do not know you like your FCE coaches do. Over the next year (BU16), all of the players will continue to improve both technically and tactically, as well as mature physically. Remember how quick the HS tryout process was - you had 3 to 5 days to make a lasting impression with a sports coach that is comparing you to 50 to 70 other players. Set yourself a goal to be ready next Spring, and to make your HS team as a Sophomore. For the players that are playing high school, stay healthy and enjoy the season. For the players that are not playing high school ball, remember to keep-up your fitness and get your touches in. Both teams will be getting restarted in the May timeframe, and we will want to hit the ground running. (Sprinting if we can.) See ya on the soccer fields.
Coach Darrell, Coach Steve and Coach Julio

2013 / 2014 BU16 Season Plan (Tournaments, Fall League Play, State Cup Play)
The BU16 FCE Cobras team will be very busy in 2013. During the Summer months, our Focus will be on playing in competitive tournaments that also provide the opportunity for player visibility at College Showcase events. Once Fall approaches, the FCE Cobras team will again compete in the US Club's Puget Sound Premier League (PSPL) top division, the Washington State Premier League, or WSPL. This league is comprised of the top 8 teams at this age group, and the FCE Cobras team are again part of this elite group of teams for 2013.
The BU16 FCE Venom team will also participate in the Puget Sound Premier League (PSPL) as well, but will compete at the Classic 2 level of play. In 2012, the BU15 FCE Venom team did very well, finishing the season in 5th place in a 9 team league. The FCE Venom team will also have an exciting tournament plan for the upcoming year that will include several local tournaments and at least one out of state experience as well. Currently, the BU16 FCE Venom team does not have a Coach in place. Both FC Edmonds and Sno-King Youth Club will be working hard to identify a Coach for this team, and have that coach appointed and in place before the boys high school season completes in the May timeframe. Please let Coach Darrell Hamilton or Steve Norton know if you have any questions.
Here is the 2013 / 2014 BU16 Season Plan for the FCE Cobras team. This plan is pretty solid, but cold be modified based on tournament availability, etc. Please take a look at the our team's activities scheduled for the upcoming year let Coach Darrell Hamilton, Coach Steve Norton and Team Manager Maureen Lico know if you have any questions.

FCE COBRAS COACHING STAFF - BIOGRAPHY AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Coach: Darrell Hamilton
Asst. Coach: Stephen R. Norton
Keeper Coach/Asst. Coach: Julio Abad
Coach's Bio: Darrell Hamilton
Experience: YOUTH - 1980-2008 SnoKing Rec; 1996 - 1998 NW Nations Premier U18 and U19; HIGH SCHOOL - 1994-1998 Meadowdale HS JV Girls and Assistant Varsity Coach, 1997-2006 Meadowdale Boys Varsity Head Coach, 2003 - 3rd place State, 2004 - State Champions; 2008-2011 FC Edmonds Select Coach
Personal: Coach Hamilton grew up in Bellingham and went to college in Illinois. He graduated with a BA from Aurora College where he played 3 years of varsity soccer and earned a Masters degree from Northern Illinois University. He taught school for 6 yrs in Illinois before moving back to Washington and teaching in the Shoreline School District. He began his 31 yrs of coaching in 1980 with the Edmonds/Lynnwood Youth Club, now known as SnoKing. The Cobras started in 2002 as a rec team with SnoKing and in 2008 became the first boys U11 select team at SnoKing. The current Cobras team still has players from that first rec team and has added players from other other teams as well as through tryouts.
Philosophy: Over the years I hae recognized that coaching kids at any level creates the opportunity to help teach soccer skills. That is part of the responsibility of coaching. I have also learned it is just as important o help teach sportsmanship (as a team we are viewed by others by our actions both on and off the field), life skills (the decisions you make while playing or personally off the field have consequences) and that playing soccer should be fun. Winning is important and out team goal is to win. How you act when you win and how you act when you lose is a reflection of you as a team and me as a coach.
Coach's Bio: Stephen R. Norton
Qualifications: U.S. Soccer Federation "D" License; 1994 National Soccer Coaches Association of America; 1990 Brittannia Soccer Coaching Clinic
Experience: Youth Rec Coach - 12 teams total in SnoKing and Terrace Brier Soccer Clubs; Youth Indoor Coach - 15 teams total (SnoKing, Terrace Brier, Northwest Nationals; Youth Competitive/Premier Coach - 8 teams Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club; High School Coach - 7 teams Lynnwood and Meadowdale High School; Adult Coach - 6 teams Greater Seattle Soccer League; Summary - 20+ years, 48 soccer teams, 300+ players trained.
Philosophy: I believe in developing the complete player. Providing each individual the tools to be a successful player is more important than "wins versus losses." This is accomplished through focused training on "Technical Skill Development, Game Awareness and Team Tactics." Training sessions are designed to build as the session progresses. This is accomplished through Economical Training: 1. Practicing Skill, 2. Skill with Light Pressure, 3. Skill in Game/Match Situation
Soccer Community and Volunteer Activities: 1992-1996 - SnoKing Youth Soccer Coach; 1995-1999 - SSCYSA Canadian Exchange Coordinator; 1996 - Terrace Brier Youth Soccer Coach; 1996-1999 - Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club Coach; 1996-1999 - Terrace Brier Soccer Club VP of Competition; 1998-2000 - Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club President, Field Assignor, Referee Assignor; 1998-2000 - SSCYSA Board Member; 1999-2006 - Meadowdale High School Varsity Boys Coaching Staff
