Welcome to the FCE Storm Select Team's Page!

(2011 TRYOUTS NOW COMPLETE)
The GU11 FCE Storm are coached by Head Coach Andy Cummins (WSYSA D License) and Assistant Coach John Cassidy. We are very excited to coach the FC Edmonds newly incoming GU11 Select Team. In general, we anticipate playing in the North Puget Sound League Division 1 (Gold) fall league, and playing 2-3 summer tournaments in advance of that season, and likely a State Cup tournament after that season. We may play some spring indoor soccer, and ramp practices back up in the spring, from 1/week, back to 2/week in the summer and fall.
Select soccer is intermediate in skill and commitment level between recreational and premier soccer. Select play is further divided into Gold, Silver and Bronze divisions according to level of play. The GU11 select teams play 9 sided soccer (9v9) in the fall NPSL league and typically carry a roster of 13-14 players. The teams progress to 11 sided soccer (11v11) at GU12 the following season and can expand to a maximum roster size of 18 players. Typical costs per player for FC Edmonds teams run between $600-$800 per player per season. For more information on the FC Edmonds program and select soccer please visit: http://fcedmonds.net/about

GU11 Coach Andy Cummins
Bio:
Andy grew up playing youth soccer in Ferndale, WA. He started playing at age 8 on a recreational team. He was offered a soccer scholarship to a Jr. College, but chose instead to pursue an Engineering Degree in Arizona, and has continued to play intramural soccer since. Andy has coached youth soccer since 1985 and holds a USSF National "D" coaching license through the Washington State Youth Soccer Association. He's previously coached a GU11 and GU12 Select Soccer team from 2006-08 at FC Shoreline in the District 1 (Gold) Division. He's coached girls rec soccer at Sno-King Youth Club since 2004. His highly successful Blue Wave team went undefeated and took 1st Place in the 2009 fall Sno-King GU9 rec division. They went undefeated again in 2010, as a GU10 Sno-King Developmental Team playing up a year in the GU11 North County Youth Soccer Association recreational league. But Andy's primary goal is to develop individual players, and their understanding of the game, and to allow team success to follow.
Coaching Philosophy:
The primary objective of my coaching is for the players to have fun, while teaching them soccer fundamentals. I want to provide a positive and safe environment for young athletes to play the game and promote good sportsmanship through soccer. I'm honored to coach multi-sport athletes and strive to also promote individual and family values. My definition of success is not measured by wins or losses of the team, but by how much each player has improved in their skills, and their understanding of the game.
