FC Edmonds holds its tryouts generally in the Spring.  WSYSA dictates the specific dates for tryouts each year.  U-11 can hold a maximum of 14 players, U12-U19 can hold up to 18 players on a roster.  You can contact specific coaches if you would like information about their team, or if you would like to attend one of their practices. Here are some general items regarding tryouts:

  • Tryouts can be held either on one day, or over a couple of days
  • Candidates should receive some general information about the team, and its schedule
  • Candidates should bring their own ball, shin guards, cleats/shoes, water and wear "clubless" apparel
  • Tryouts will probably include: Individual Ball Control, Match Play exercises and Small-sided games
  • Candidates should be in good physical condition for a rigorous tryout schedule
  • Some considerations for coaches:
  1. Is the player comfortable with the ball
  2. Is the player fundamentally sound
  3. Is there specific strong points in the players game
  4. Does the player make good decisions
  5. Does the player understand cover, pressure and patience when defending
  6. Is the player fast
  7. Does the player possess endurance
  8. Does the player have a dominant physical attribute
  9. Is the player vocal
  10. Does the player follow directions
  11. Is the player a leader
  12. Is the player confident
  • Some considerations for parents:
  1. Does the coach fit your childs needs
  2. Does the coach communicate effectively in a manner in which your child will grow
  3. Does the team's schedule fit your family's
  4. Does the teams goals match the goals you have for your childs
  5. Is your child and you ready to commit to the rigorous schedule of Select/Premier soccer
  6. Can your child physically and mentally handle the rigors of Select/Premier soccer

This is just a few items of the tryout process to consider.  Please either contact the FC Edmonds Advisory Board, or contact the coach of your childs age/gender to get more specific information.
